Magdalena Perez Tovar 1927-2013
My cousin Nena passed away on Friday. My brother and sister-in-law, Louie & Mary, and Glenn, and I went to her funeral today. After the program at Forest Lawn in Covina there was a reception at her son John & Laura Tovar’s home in San Dimas.
Here’s what today’s program said about my cousin,
Magdalena Tovar was born on May 9, 1927 in Hanover, New Mexico, to parents Pedro and Maria Perez. She had 12 brothers and sisters. In 1946 she graduated from Hurley High School in New Mexico and in 1949 she married her next-door neighbor, Juan Tovar. They later moved to La Puente, California where they raised their family.
Juan and Magdalena were together for more than 58 years before Juan’s passing. They shared 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. At the age of 52, Magdalena earned her BA degree from CSUF in Spanish. She then went on to teach 4th grade at Parkview Elementary School in El Monte, CA.
Magdalena loved the Lord, loved her family, and loved life.
